Information Security Specialist

Phoenix, AZ
The Opportunity: We are seeking experienced Information Security Specialists to join our client’s Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) team. This role will focus on technical policy management, supporting data discovery, classification, and risk assessment activities aligned with the EDM initiative. The ideal candidate will leverage DSPM tools to define technical policies that meet data requirements driven by laws, regulations, and directives.

  • Work Location: Phoenix, AZ
  • Project Duration: 12 Month Contract

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify data risk areas for evaluation and develop remediation strategies.
  • Perform scans of data sources for asset tagging and inventory management.
  • Define DSPM tool policies to support data governance and compliance needs.
  • Classify data elements by sensitivity, risk level, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments, providing actionable guidance and recommendations.
  • Partner across business and technical teams to gather requirements.
  • Evaluate existing controls for effectiveness and identify gaps.
  • Collaborate with control owners on preventative and corrective solutions.
  • Maintain risk documentation, data asset inventory, and reporting artifacts.
  • Prepare, execute, and present reporting to leadership, examiners, and stakeholders.
  • Participate in DSPM-related projects and provide backup support for team processes.
  • Support evidence assurance, control identification, and data control prescriptions.
  • Drive resolution of control gaps and ensure effective data risk reporting.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of data management experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in Risk, Compliance, Privacy, Audit, or Information Security.
  • Strong understanding of data discovery and classification principles.
  • Experience working with databases and unstructured data sources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for risk and technical concepts.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across business and technical partners.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in data governance or technical asset inventory roles.
  • Knowledge of DSPM tools and processes.
  • Risk assessment and risk management process expertise.
  • Familiarity with company data risk policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard Information Security practices.
  • Understanding of data-related laws, regulations, and compliance frameworks.
  • Technical database coding experience.
