Sr. IT Infrastructure Engineer / Technical Generalist

This role is highly hands-on, focusing on network, systems, and data center infrastructure, with responsibility for maintaining and supporting critical operational environments.

- Role: Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer/ Technical Generalist
- Experience: 5–10 Years
- Work Location: Phoenix, AZ (Onsite / Field-Based)
- Travel: Local travel to 15+ sites within the Phoenix metro area
- Project Duration: 12–24 Month Contract
- Work Environment: ~90% On-Premise
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on support for network, systems, and infrastructure environments across multiple sites
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot network equipment, including Cisco networking and Palo Alto firewalls
- Support data center operations, including racks, cabling, power, cooling, and hardware installations
- Manage and maintain virtualized environments (VMware) and supporting infrastructure
- Support backup, recovery, and data protection solutions (e.g., Cohesity or similar)
- Monitor and support systems using tools such as Splunk and ManageEngine
- Perform patch management, system updates, and maintenance activities
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues across network, compute, and storage layers
- Follow and support ITIL-based processes, including incident, change, and problem management
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure system reliability, performance, and operational stability
- Support infrastructure deployments, upgrades, and lifecycle management activities
Required Qualifications
- 5–10 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, or network engineering roles
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Cisco networking technologies
- Palo Alto firewalls (or similar enterprise firewalls)
- Experience supporting data center environments (racking, cabling, power, cooling)
- Working knowledge of VMware virtualization platforms
- Experience with monitoring and management tools (e.g., Splunk, ManageEngine)
- Understanding of patch management and system lifecycle processes
- Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and operational processes
- Ability to troubleshoot across multiple infrastructure domains (network, systems, hardware)
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a hands-on, field-based role across multiple locations
- Must have a clean safety record and ability to work in regulated or industrial environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with backup and recovery platforms (e.g., Cohesity or similar)
- Exposure to enterprise storage or compute platforms (Dell or similar)
- Experience supporting distributed or multi-site environments
- Background working in industrial, energy, or highly regulated environments
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco, VMware, or security certifications)
