Migration Specialist

The Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced Jira & Confluence Migration Specialist to lead the migration of our client’s Atlassian tools (Jira and Confluence) from a Data Center environment to Atlassian Cloud (SaaS). The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in planning, executing, and managing similar migrations, with a deep understanding of Atlassian tools, cloud architecture, and best practices for ensuring a seamless transition. This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, execute, and manage the migration of Jira and Confluence from Data Center to Atlassian Cloud (SaaS).
  • Analyze existing Atlassian environments and develop migration strategies to minimize downtime and ensure data integrity.
  • Utilize Atlassian migration tools (e.g., Jira Cloud Migration Assistant, Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant) to facilitate smooth transitions.
  • Configure and optimize Jira and Confluence Cloud for performance, security, and scalability.
  • Identify and resolve compatibility issues with third-party plugins and integrations.
  • Implement best practices for cloud-based administration, user management, and access controls.
  • Work with identity providers (e.g., Okta, Azure AD) to configure Single Sign-On (SSO) and authentication mechanisms.
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges and provide support to end-users throughout the migration process.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to document processes, best practices, and lessons learned.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience migrating Jira and Confluence from Data Center to Atlassian Cloud (SaaS).
  • Strong understanding of Jira and Confluence architecture, configurations, and administration.
  • Hands-on experience with Atlassian migration tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of Atlassian Cloud features, limitations, and best practices.
  • Experience with system administration, APIs, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Linux environments, and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
